Integral Mothia salt is a type of unrefined, non-iodized sea salt produced on the island of Mothia, located in the Marsala lagoon, Sicily.
Mothia integral salt is produced through a process of natural evaporation of sea water, which is collected in the island's shallow basins. The salt is then collected manually and stored without undergoing any type of refining or purification process, thus maintaining all the minerals and traces of elements present in the original solution.
Mothia Brown Salt has a light gray color and a crunchy, slightly moist texture. It has an intense and characteristic flavour, with mineral notes and a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Mothia whole salt is considered a valuable product thanks to its purity and the presence of minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium, which make it healthier than refined salts.
It is often used in Mediterranean cuisine, both as a condiment and as an ingredient for preparing dishes such as bread or pasta.
