Sicilian Pinecones

The Sicilian Pine Cone: symbol of fertility, prosperity and abundance. The pine cone has always been a synonym of good wishes that embodies the symbolic meanings of life force, immortality and divinity. Assumed as a symbol of the mountain, abode of the Gods, already in remote times in the Mediterranean it represented divinity, arriving over time to become an emblem of speculative and philosophical elevation. It was also often associated with the cosmic egg, with zero and therefore with the birth and creation of mankind. Fruit of the pine tree, an evergreen, the pine cone also assumes the meaning of longevity and eternity, thus enriching balconies and often enthroned on the pillars of the entrance gates of ancient noble villas and gardens. It will always be a much appreciated gift because it is unquestionably elegant and because it is accompanied by a message of prosperity and serenity for the recipient.
