The capuliato tomato is a traditional condiment of Sicilian cuisine based on dried tomatoes.
The original name in Sicilian means minced, however in other areas of Sicily, but not in the Piana di Vittoria where it was born and thanks to which it has spread, it is also called capuliata, above all to refer to a seasoned pasta dish, as if there was referring to a "spaghettata".
The term capuliato, or capuliatu in Sicilian, has the meaning of amorsellato or shredded and typically refers to the type of processing. So tomatoes capuliati or the "capuliato di carne", i.e. minced meat, the classic minced meat.
